Guwahati, Apr 30: The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is poised to return to power in Assam for a third consecutive term, according to multiple exit polls released after voting for the 2026 Assembly elections.

A projection by Northeast-based political consultancy Future Edge indicates a clear advantage for the NDA, with the BJP expected to emerge as the single largest party.

The projections suggest a comfortable majority for the NDA in the 126-member Assembly, while the Congress-led opposition is expected to retain a sizeable but distant presence.
Future Edge said its exit poll is based on a structured sample across multiple constituencies, capturing voter sentiment across regions, demographics, and socio-political groups. The study combines on-ground surveys with data validation techniques to reflect post-voting preferences.

Meanwhile, another major projection by Axis My India points to an even stronger mandate for the ruling alliance, estimating the NDA to win 88 to 100 seats, well above the majority mark.

If these projections hold, it would mark a third straight term for the NDA in Assam, reinforcing the BJP’s dominance in the state’s political landscape.
