Guwahati, Aug 3: As part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative Assam government plans to have atleast 80 lakh national flags hoisted across the state.

The state will purchase 50 lakh National Flags from the Union Ministry of Textiles for the Har Ghar Tiranga programme slated from August 13-15; rest 30 lakhs will be made by Self help groups

The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is picking up pace among the people. Even in remote areas of Assam’s Dima Hasao district, people and local groups are making an earnest effort to make this nationwide campaign a massive success.

The Har Ghar Tiranga is a campaign under the aegis of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to encourage people to bring the tiranga home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence.

The idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag.
