Guwahati, Sept 25: Assam government has decided to cancel the recruitment of the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) on charges of irregularity.
Talking to reporters, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Bisawa Sarma on Saturday said a fresh recruitment test will be conducted soon.
On Friday evening, theĀ sleuths of the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell arrested 10 persons in connection with ‘cash for job’ scam in Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APDCL) recruitment exam 2019.
They have been identified as, namely, Dipankar Dehingia (OSD, APDCL, AEGCL, APGCL), Sasanka Saikia, Kankan Sarma, Kaushik Das, Biswajit Barman, Dulumoni Deka, Jayanta Deka, Farha Alom, Babilon Kakati, Tridip Sarma.
SP, CM Vigilance Cell, Rosy Kalita said, “We have arrested 10 persons in conection with cash for job scam in Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APDCL) recruitment exam 2019. The prime accused Mohammad Ataur Rahman is not found at his home. Our investigation is going on”.
In connection with the Vigilance PS case No.04/2021 U/S 120B/420/468/471 IPC R/W Sec 7/13 (1)(a)(b) PC Act, 201, (examination for posts in the APDCL), theĀ following persons have been arrested from their residences in Guwahati.
According to police sources, Dipankar was working as an officer on special duty (OSD) at the APDCL since 2006.
Meanwhile, theĀ accused were produced before CJM court Guwahati on Saturday.
Sources said the investigation got started following directions from the CAMO(Chief Minister’s Office).
45 arrested for question paper leak
Last year, as many as 45 persons were arrested by Assam police in connection with question paper leak scam of the Sub-Inspector Unarmed Branch SI (UB) recruitment examination for 597 posts. An expelled BJP leader, Diban Deka, and ex-DIG, Prasanta Kumar Dutta, have been arrested in conection with the scam.
