Guwahati, Oct 18: The fourth day of Navaratri festival in Kamakhya temple witnessed huge numbers of devotees who thronged the temple premises to worship Goddess Durga.
The devotees were seen doing Chandi Path. Many devotees came over from various areas of India to take blessings of the goddess.
Tanish Singh Rajput, who came all the way from Madhya Pradesh, was seen doing Chandi Path in temple premises.
“Chandi Path has lot of importance in Hindu religion. We can overcome our negative thoughts and develop power by chanting Chandi Path during the Navaratri. Kamakhya mandir is one of most important Shakti Pith in India. We get lots of benefit through Chandi Path,” said Rajput.
The Kamakhya Temple at Nilachal Hills in Assam’s Guwahati is one of the oldest and most revered centres of Tantric practices, dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya.
Every year, Navaratri is observed in Kamakhya temple, and people from various states come here to worship Goddess Durga.
This year, the Kamakhya temple has been well decorated for the nine-day event, and the management of the temple has been taking all steps for the smooth conduct of the festival. Over these days, devotees will offer their prayers to Goddess Durga and observe fasts.
The festival of Navratri honours the defeat of the demon Mahishasura and the triumph of good over evil. The 10th day of Sharad Navratri is celebrated as Dussehra or Vijay Dashmi.
