Dibrugarh, June 29: A man has been arrested in Assam’s Jorhat district for allegedly assaulting an on-duty constable on Saturday.

The constable has been identified as Afzal Hussain.

Hussain said the accused attacked him for no reason.

Police arrested one individual identified as Rontu Bora.

According to reports, the police constable, posted at Pulibor police station, had gone to the house of a person named Pabitra Bira to deliver a court notice/ summons.

Police said the accused has been taken into custody and an investigation has been initiated.
