Operation ‘Crystal Fortress’ busts trans-national cartel; Home Minister hails multi-agency action
Guwahati, Nov 23: A major trans-national methamphetamine syndicate with links to Nagaland has been busted under Operation ‘Crystal Fortress’, resulting in the seizure of 328 kg of high-quality meth worth Rs 262 crore from a residence in Chhatarpur, Delhi — one of the biggest drug hauls ever recorded in the capital.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Delhi Police for the breakthrough, calling it a “brilliant example of seamless multi-agency coordination” in pursuit of the government’s goal of a drug-free India under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

According to officials, a woman from Nagaland, who was staying at the house where the massive stash was found, was detained with the support of the Nagaland Police and later arrested. Another individual was also taken into custody.
The network is suspected to be part of a larger cartel run by a kingpin currently operating from abroad, who is also wanted in a previous NCB case involving 82.5 kg of high-grade cocaine seized in Delhi last year. India is now working with international enforcement agencies to facilitate his deportation.

Authorities say the cartel relied on multiple couriers, safe houses, and layered handlers, trafficking synthetic drugs into India and beyond.
NCB has urged citizens to support the national campaign against narcotics by reporting information through the MANAS helpline — 1933.
