Agartala, Aug 24: With just about six months to go for Assembly polls, the ruling BJP in Tripura has got a major jolt.
The party’s leader of the opposition in Autonomous District Council (ADC) Hans Tripura joined ‘Tipra Motha’ party on Tuesday in a massive programme held at remote Manikpur in Tripura’s Dhalai district.
Along with Hans Tripura altogether 6500 voters belonging to 3000 families also joined ‘Tipra Motha’ by accepting party flags from the ‘Motha’ supremo Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barman.
‘Tipra Motha’ will give a tough fight to the BJP in the upcoming Tripura Assembly polls.
Addressing the programme, Hans Tripura thanked his supporters and said that ‘Tipra Motha’ is the only party that is working for tribals and will ensure the optimum level of socio-economic development of the backward tribal community.
In his speech, Pradyot Kishore Debbarman welcomed all the tribal voters to ‘Tipra Motha’ and said that it is on the strength of ‘Thansa’ (unity) that the tribal people will be able to elicit their legitimate and legal rights from the unwilling hands of the BJP which is destroying the state.
