TURA, Aug 24: Tall claims recently made by the regional United Democratic Party after several congress youth workers had joined them in the border constituency of Dalu in West Garo Hills district has been taken with a pinch of salt by the Congress party.

Responding to last week’s announcement by UDP leaders about the “mass” entry of congress workers to their fold, the general secretary of Dalu youth congress, Wellsion M Marak termed it untrue.

“The UDP claims are totally false and fabricated. Rather they should focus more on the grassroots because their presence is very doubtful, whereas, the congress is still strong and alive in Dalu constituency and we don’t have a clue as to who are those who deserted the party because their names are not registered with the Congress party,” clarified the youth congress general secretary.

He said that this is nothing short of mudslinging and false propaganda given the elections are drawing near and the UDP is also indulging in a similar practice.

He stated that the citizens of Dalu area which comprises mixed communities remain with the Congress party because of its ideology and principle.
