BJP’s Rajabala candidate arrested for kidnapping by Garo Hills police

TURA, July 14: The former candidate of the BJP who unsuccessfully contested the Rajabala assembly by-poll in October of last year has been arrested by East Garo Hills police for kidnapping a girl on July 13.

The ex-BJP candidate Kingston B Marak was arrested by Williamnagar police after Tura police alerted their counterparts of the kidnapping case.

Kingston B Marak is also a self proclaimed social activist who claims to be raising social issues of the people.

The kidnapping case involves a girl from Rajabala area of West Garo Hills who disappeared from her home on 11th July. The family filed a missing report with Rajabala police and investigation was immediately launched by West Garo Hills police.

“We immediately registered a case and during investigation we found out that he had taken the girl to Williamnagar and kept her confined there. We alerted Williamnagar police and the girl was rescued and Kingston was arrested,” informed West Garo Hills Superintendent of police Vivekanand Singh Rathore.

At the time of the rescue the girl was kept confined in a house for almost three days.

Police seized the car used to abduct the girl and also two mobile phones that he used to lure the victim away.

Kingston B Marak is an active social media user who used to go by the name of Kingston Bolwari. He allegedly claims to be an activist fighting social issues and was given the BJP ticket to fight last year’s by-election in Rajabala which he lost badly coming in as one of the last candidates in the results table.

Police inform that he is also a member of AHAM organisation formed by GNLA Chairman Champion R Sangma.
