Khliehriat, Sept 25: The Blood Storage Centre at the 100-bedded Hospital Khliehriat was on Saturday inaugurated by East Jaiñtia Hills District Medical & Health Officer, Dr. D. Shylla.
The Storage Centre is an Annexe of the Jowai Blood Bank, West Jaiñtia Hills and it will cater to the medical needs of the people from East Jaiñtia Hills.
Speaking during the inaugural programme, Dr. Shylla informed that the opening of the Blood Storage Unit at Khliehriat will benefit the public in the district and he also encourage the Staffs of the Health Department to participate in the Blood Donation Camp after the inaugural session which is a noble cause in saving lives in times when blood is required by a patient.
Dr. P. Shylla, in-charge Blood Bank Jowai and Dr. C. S. Bareh, in-charge Blood Storage Centre gave valuable inputs during the programme on the protocols for donating blood which will help a person or patient who will be needing blood in the hospital.
Following the programme, around 11 individuals voluntarily donated blood during the Blood Donation Camp.
