Guwahati, June 10: The body of 26-year-old Rosmita Hojai from Assam, who had been missing since June 5, 2025, was found on Tuesday on the banks of a river in Pauri Garhwal district, Uttarakhand.

Police have launched an investigation and detained two individuals in connection with the case.

The detained persons have been identified as Hemant Sharma of Mohindergarh, Delhi, and Pankaj Kokar of Rohtak, Haryana. They are currently being questioned.

Rosmita Hojai, a resident of Hojai village in Dima Hasao district of Assam, was travelling to Delhi to appear for the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) examination.

She had completed her engineering studies in Haryana and was currently preparing for the APSC (Assam Public Service Commission) examination in Guwahati. She informed her family on June 4 that she was heading to Delhi for the exam.

According to reports, on the evening of June 5, Rosmita called her mother and said she was returning by train—an unexpected update that raised concern within the family.

Her body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Police are continuing their probe to determine the cause of her death.

“We have sent the body for autopsy and started our investigation. At this point, we cannot ascertain anything. We have detained two persons and begun questioning,” a police official said.
