Over 80 per cent of the state’s 8.57 lakh voters exercised their franchise in Mizoram.
A party needs to cross the halfway mark of 21 to form government in Mizoram, which has a 40- member Legislative Assembly.
A total of 174 candidates, including 18 women, were in the fray for the 2023 Assembly polls.
Mizoram voted on November 7 and counting of votes was supposed to begin on Sunday along with the other four states – Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana. But, the Election Commission of India (ECI) deferred it by a day as Sunday holds a special significance for the Christian-majority population in the state.
In 2018, the MNF won 26 seats, dislodging the Congress from power. The ZPM had won eight seats, while the Congress was relegated to third with just five seats, compared to the 34 it had won in 2013.
