Guwahati, May 23: In 2021, bulldozer was used to destroy 1418 settlement in Dholpur Gorukuti and during that time one person had also died. After some of months, again some people were living by building houses on the banks of the river of Guru Khuti Agricultural Project and Assam government has again used bulldozer against the settlers.

Now local people are facing a lot of problems who are living there. Out of these, 379 families have been evicted by the district administration.

Ilyas Ahmed, Senior Advocate of Guwahati High Court stated that the bulldozer action in East Gorukhuti is sheer injustice and in this way the bulldozers should not be used. He further stated that “bulldozer action is being taken against only one community by the Assam government”. This is completely wrong.

Nurul Islam, Assam State President of Ittehad Front, also expressed his displeasure and said that the bulldozer action in Garukhuti is a completely wrong decision because even in 2021, one person died due to bulldozer operation here.
