Shillong, May 10: A burglary was reported at the Hanuman Mandir in Garikhana, Shillong, in the early hours of Saturday under Lumdiengjri Police Station, Shillong.
According to an FIR lodged with the police, unknown miscreants broke into the temple premises after damaging a side entrance and stole idols, ornaments, ritual utensils and cash from the donation box.
The FIR also mentioned that CCTV cameras installed inside and outside the temple were damaged. However, footage from a nearby house reportedly captured the movement of the suspects leaving the area.

Following the incident, the Confederation of People’s Committee (CPC), Meghalaya strongly condemned the burglary and demanded immediate action against those responsible.
CPC Meghalaya president N. Bhattacharjee urged the district administration and police to conduct a thorough investigation, arrest the culprits at the earliest and ensure strict action as per law.
