Condemning the move of the Council, the CCIB said the NOC was given without the knowledge and consultations with the land owners and the CCIB.

The CCIB, which met on Wednesday at Enowell Hall in Amlarem, said the fence will be erected 150 yards into the Indian Territory, which will lead to loss of large tracts of cultivation land belonging to people residing at border areas. In addition, a member of the Dawki Tourism Development Society (DTDS) claimed that the international fence will also be done inside the Umgot river, which will affect the livelihood of the people in Dawki area who heavily depend on the river for their survival.
