Must read

Guwahati, April 26: As many as 120 houses of Chittaranjan road in Silchar boycotted the Lok Sabha elections 2024 in protest of flash floods problem.

The residents opted to refrain from voting, as for the last 10 years, the people of Chittaranjan road are suffering due to the flash flood problem.

“We have boycotted the vote because our problems are not solved after repeated pleas. We have been suffering from a flash flood problem for the last 10 years and our problem has not been solved by the concerned authority. Our area has become unhealthy due to stagnation of dirty water after a splash of rain. Today, in protest for the unsolved problem, we have abstained from voting,” said a female resident of Chittaranjan road.

Another senior citizen said, “after one hours of rain our lane is submerged under dirty water. We have submitted a memorandum to MLA, MP and all stakeholders. Six months back MLA Dipayan Chakraborty assured us that he will find a solution to the problem but till date nothing has been resolved,”.

“We have supported BJP and ‘Modiji’ but our problem of waterlogging has not been solved. We are fed up and decided to not cast our votes this time. We have 120 houses in our locality, and no one has cast their vote”.
