Itanagar, March 27: There was no delegation from China in Arunachal Pradesh leg of G20 meeting that was held on Saturday and Sunday, confirmed a senior official from Arunachal Pradesh capital Itanagar on condition of anonymity. He however added that the reason of China skipping the meet is not known to the state government and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) would be in a better position to respond to that.
The theme of the G20 summit in Itanagar was ‘Research, innovation initiative, gathering’, and it was organised by the science & technology department.
China has often claimed Arunachal Pradesh as part of south Tibet.
The meeting was earlier declared as ‘confidential’ and media entry was restricted. Delegates from 22 countries participated in the summit.
Apart from the main event, they were taken to the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Buddhist monastery in Itanagar. They also witnessed the tribal cultures and tasted the local cuisines, officials added.
