Shocking condition of Tura Zoo, dead deer lies abandoned inside cage

Must read

Tura, March 27: Scenes of disbelief at Tura Zoo in Nehru park where visitors were treated to the shocking sight of an endangered barking deer lying dead inside its cage with no one to remove it.

This was just one among many shocking scenes to be witnessed about the condition of the zoo.

With the dead deer getting decomposed inside its cage, the other deer was also found sharing space in the same environment endangering itself. This was the only deer left in the zoo.

More shocking scenes were in store as several cages meant to keep endangered animals were found empty and damaged.

The endangered turtle cage was empty and so also was the himalayan bear cage.

There was only one jackal living inside a cage with no drinking water provided to it as it looked parched from the hot humid summer sun.

The only visible sign of animals present were the cages holding the monkeys.

A large number of cages were left uncared for and huge piles of dead leaves covered the roofs.

The Nehru Park Zoo in Tura is the only zoo in the district and draws large number of visitors but lack of care to the animals leading to their demise is making the zoo a negative place to visit for animal lovers and general public.
