Must read

Guwahati, Dec 5: Union Minister of Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, on Wednesday paid homage at the historic Kohima War Cemetery, honouring the soldiers who fell during the Battle of Kohima — a decisive turning point in the Second World War.

Welcomed by local officials and representatives, the Minister reflected on the Cemetery’s enduring significance, describing it as a “symbol of courage, sacrifice, and shared history” that continues to draw visitors from across India and abroad.

Following the solemn tribute, Scindia visited the Garrison Café — a unique cultural space in Kohima that blends wartime memory with contemporary Naga creativity. The café, rooted in local traditions and military heritage, has evolved into a vibrant hub for youth, artists, and tourists. The Minister enjoyed a cup of locally grown coffee and praised such initiatives for promoting entrepreneurship, strengthening community engagement, and contributing to Nagaland’s cultural economy. He also acknowledged Nagaland’s growing identity around coffee, which the state government has identified as a key USP.
