Williamnagar, April 22: The first-ever synthetic football turf at Rongrenggre Government Higher Secondary School, Williamnagar, inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Meghalaya on 27th May 2025, has now been brought under an official maintenance framework with the formation of a dedicated committee.
Since its inauguration, there had been no formal body to oversee the maintenance and management of the football turf. Addressing this gap, a meeting was convened today at 1:00 p.m. in the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner, East Garo Hills. The meeting was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner, R.P. Marak.
Among those present were the District Sports Officer of East Garo Hills, Saljagring M. Marak, along with his office staff, the President and Secretary of the Williamnagar District Sports Association, the former Principal in-charge of Rongrenggre Govt. Higher Secondary School Sengsrang G. Momin and other concerned members.
The primary objective of the meeting was to constitute a committee responsible for the proper maintenance and management of the synthetic turf. Accordingly, the committee was formed with the Deputy Commissioner as Chairman, while the Principal of Rongrenggre Government Higher Secondary School will serve as the Member Secretary. Other members include the President and Secretary of the Williamnagar District Sports Association and the Project Director of DRDA.
The committee has been named the Rongrenggre Higher Secondary School Artificial Turf Maintenance Committee.
The newly formed committee will be responsible for framing rules and regulations governing the usage and booking of the turf, determining fees and charges, ensuring proper maintenance and upkeep, enforcing discipline, maintaining accounts with transparency, addressing liabilities, and making necessary amendments from time to time.
The next meeting of the newly formed committee is scheduled for Monday.
