Cong constitutes ‘Fact-Finding’ team for in-depth study on Manipur violence

Imphal, May 19: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has constituted a three-member ‘Fact-Finding’ team to visit Manipur to ascertain the cause of widespread violence in the state.

The team will study the causes of widespread hostilities and evaluate its extent.

The three ‘Fact-Finding’ team members are AICC General Secretary and MP Mukul Wasnik, AICC in-charge for Tripura, Sikkim and Nagaland Dr. Ajoy Kumar, and party’s Tripura MLA Sudip Roy Barman.


The ‘Fact-Finding’ team would study the Manipur situation in coordination with the state AICC in-charge Bhakta Charan Das, state President K. Meghachandra Singh and three-time former Chief Minister and incumbent Congress Legislature Party leader Okram Ibobi Singh.

The ethnic violence in Manipur, which erupted on May 3, has claimed the lives of at least 73 people and injured 250 others.
