Shillong, May 12: The state government on Thursday sought a comprehensive plan to rejuvenate the Umsohlang-Umshing stream at Mawlai here.
After chairing a meeting, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma told reporters said the rejuvenation project came up after his visit to Mawlai Kynton Massar, where he had participated in the cleaning drive of the Umsohlang-Umshing stream and announced to take up a mission-mode project.

He said the idea is to start with these streams and make the project into an example or model for other streams in other localities and communities to follow.
The chief minister has also asked the department concerned to come up with a comprehensive plan for implementing the project.
“We expect the comprehensive plan will be submitted by May 31,” he said.
On Wednesday, officials from the department made a visit to the site and met with the people of the area. “They have done a preliminary study and that was discussed today (Thursday) and I have given a green signal to go ahead in making a comprehensive plan,” he said.
