Must read

Tura, July 5: In a shocker to the people of Garo Hills who voted out the last batch of MDCs in the GHADC over widespread corruption charges, the Chief Executive Member of the current dispensation in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) Albinush R Marak has appointed a defeated MDC as his adviser on Tuesday.

A notification from the District Council Affairs Department stated that former deputy chief executive member Wenison Ch Marak has been given the post of adviser with immediate effect.

The notification issued in this regard said that Wenison will advise the chief executive member on all matters which CEM wishes to consult or advice is required.

It said that executive committee will fix an honorarium/sitting allowances etc of the adviser to the CEM from time to time and that adviser will be permanent invitee to the executive committee meetings of the GHADC.

Wenison Ch Marak, a former Garo National Council MDC shifted party to the NPP after his shock defeat at the hands of an NPP candidate in Rongrikkimgre constituency of Chokpot in south Garo Hills during last year’s district council elections.

He was one among the many previous MDCs who were accused of alleged misappropriation of several crores of rupees meant for developmental works that had been given by the central government as a one time financial bailout to the GHADC.
