SHILLONG, JAN 9: A drug peddler was arrested by Khliehriat police along with heroin from a village in East Jaintia Hills district on Friday.

Acting on credible information, the police intercepted 23-year-old Kheinkor Muliar @ Khein, who was driving a white Alto vehicle (ML06A 0621), near Mookympad village, police said.

A search conducted in the presence of independent witnesses led to the recovery of suspected heroin, syringes, and other items.

Preliminary tests confirmed the substance as heroin, weighing 1.37 grams, they said.

Muliar has been arrested and charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Investigations are underway.
