Education Minister Rakkam Sangma hopeful of scholarships’ release in upcoming week

Shillong, Dec 9: Meghalaya Education Minister, Rakkam A Sangma, has informed that the state government is awaiting the disbursement of the first instalment of scholarships for the students from the Ministry of Minority, Government of India.

The statement came after members of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), including Shelkitbok Kharbani, the Assistant Education Secretary of KSU CEC, met with the Education Minister to discuss and highlight the pending release of the scholarship on Friday.

Following the meeting with KSU representatives, Minister Rakkam affirmed that the state government has completed all requisite formalities. The delay now rests with the Central Government, specifically the Ministry of Minority, responsible for sanctioning the funds.

“From the State government, all formalities have been completed. They (central government) will release anytime from now,” said the education minister.

Expressing optimism, the Minister mentioned that it is anticipated that the scholarship amounts will be disbursed into students’ accounts by the upcoming week, once the Central Government releases the funds.
