Shillong, Nov 16: The East Jaintia Hills Police executed a successful operation resulting in the confiscation of heroin valued at Rs. 18 lakh. The operation, carried out on Wednesday, led to the apprehension of two individuals involved in the illegal narcotics trade.
This comes after a NAKA was set up at Nongsning village on NH06 and search was conducted of all vehicles coming from Lumshnong side.
IPS officer Dr. L R Bishnoi shared the achievement on X (earlier known as Twitter), stating, “@EJHPolice has successfully seized Heroin worth Rs. 18 Lakh and arrested two individuals in a well-executed operation. This underscores our commitment to curbing illegal activities.”
According to reports, the operation unfolded during a routine inspection around 5:30 PM when a local taxi, bearing registration number B/R ML 11 3594, was subjected to scrutiny. Upon verification, it was revealed that one of the passengers was a suspect.
Further examination led to the discovery of a bag belonging to one of the passengers, identified as Manoj Muksor. The bag contained two soap boxes concealing a yellowish powder with a net weight of 21 grams. Additionally, the other passenger, Vicky Dkhar, was found in possession of 34 vials containing a yellowish powder with a net weight of 1.03 grams.
Subsequent testing confirmed the presence of heroin in both the soap boxes and vials.
Both individuals have been detained, and legal proceedings have been initiated against them.
