Shillong, April 15: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Wednesday interacted directly with residents of Ksehkolong village during a CM Connect programme, where issues ranging from rural infrastructure to livelihoods and education were raised.

The outreach initiative saw villagers highlighting concerns related to community-led tourism projects, the need for improved internal link roads, and salary challenges faced by private school teachers. Several residents also submitted memorandums outlining specific local demands.

Responding to the grievances, Sangma assured that the government remains committed to addressing grassroots concerns through sustained engagement. He reiterated the administration’s focus on ensuring equitable and inclusive development across Meghalaya, particularly in rural and underserved areas.

“The government is committed to working closely with communities to resolve issues and support development initiatives that directly impact people’s lives,” he said.

Following the interaction, the Chief Minister inspected a tourism site at Nohthlong, underlining the state’s continued push to strengthen community-based tourism as a driver of the rural economy and employment.

The programme was attended by Nongstoin MLA Gabriel Wahlang, Deputy Commissioner Hema Nayak, and officials from various departments.
