Tura, July 2: Leaders and representatives from various churches in West Garo Hills district came together on Saturday to organize a program for peace in Manipur.
The event took place at the Tura Super Market ground, where participants displayed placards bearing messages such as “We Pray for Peace in Manipur,” “It’s Time to Stop the Violence,” and “Love Heals, Hatred Hurts, and Violence Never Solves – Dialogue Does.”
The program was led by Father Rev. F.D. Sangma, who introduced the significance of the event to the attendees. The main objective of the gathering was to address the issues impacting the people of Manipur, specifically the ethnic violence prevailing in the state.
Durasal Marak, a representative from the GBC, emphasized the purpose of the evening, stating that they had gathered to pray for the restoration of peace and harmony in the strife-torn state of Manipur.
The prayer meeting and candlelight vigil was to remind the people of the power of unity, compassion, and dialogue in overcoming conflicts. The participants expressed their deep concern for the situation in Manipur and their heartfelt desire for peace to prevail.
The event was also aimed at raising awareness about the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing violence in Manipur.
