Guwahati, April 7: A delegation of international observers will visit Assam on April 8 and 9 under the International Election Visitor’s Programme (IEVP) 2026, being conducted alongside the ongoing Legislative Assembly elections.
The delegation—comprising representatives from countries including Egypt, Sri Lanka, Benin, Mexico and Croatia—is part of a 17-member international group accompanied by officials of the Election Commission of India to observe electoral processes in the state.
Officials said the delegates will be received at the Integrated District Commissioner’s Office in Amingaon, where they will be briefed on key election management systems and overall poll preparedness.
The itinerary also includes visits to the Media Monitoring Centre and Webcasting Monitoring Centre, offering insights into real-time surveillance and transparency mechanisms adopted during elections. Delegates will further visit polling stations to observe on-ground operations, including model polling stations, all-women polling stations and booths managed by persons with disabilities.
Officials said the programme aims to showcase India’s technology-driven and inclusive electoral framework, while highlighting administrative preparedness in ensuring free, fair and transparent polls.
