Shillong, April 11: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong on Friday said there is no question of the government forcing people for Aadhaar enrolment.
Refusing to comment on the recent anti-Aadhaar protest, Tynsong said, “I have seen recently some sections of people are against it; I can’t say anything against it. If they don’t want to avail the facilities provided by the government, be it central or state so it is up to them. We cannot force them to register for the Aadhaar card if they feel that it is totally unnecessary for them.”

Stating that the issue is a very old subject, the Deputy CM however said people have started going on their own for Aadhaar enrolment.
“Initially people were deadly against Aadhaar card but lately people (are) willingly go themselves for enrolling in the centre for Aadhaar card,” he stated.

“(This is because) even for admission in different institutions or whatever you need Aadhaar card and even you talking about free ration card, you need to have this Aadhaar card and if you want to avail benefits of medical reimbursement in the form of that insurance then again you need the Aadhaar card everywhere,” Tynsong added.
