Govt remains committed to address concerns related to power supply : Mondal

Shillong, Feb 26: The concerns of frequent power mishaps in the State has raised alarms.

Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal on Monday said that it is not possible for the department to check the power connection in each household since individuals are using the electricity inside their own premises.

However, he said that the department is contemplating to conduct audit of the electrical supplies of the iconic and heritage wooden structures in Shillong.

He sought cooperation of the public to inform on concerns related to electrical issues to the notice of the department.

He also urged the people to be cautious and not allow over loading in their residences.

“If their are any issues related to power, the corporation will immediately rectify such discrepancies”, he added.

Asked about the eroded electric poles and tangling of wires visible in different parts of the city, he said that the corporation will immediately replaces such poles whenever complaints are made about such eroded poles.

It may be mentioned that the old wooden structure of Shillong Bar Association was reduced to ashes in the recently fire mishap following suspected electric short circuit.
