SHILLONG, MAY 1: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge PWD (Roads) Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday reviewed the implementation of the Shillong-Dawki road project and the process of land acquisition for the Shillong Western Bypass.

Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said, “I did a review meeting with the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and all concerned departments for Shillong-Dawki road and for Shillong Western Bypass and right now everything is on track.”

He informed that as far as the Shillong Western Bypass is concerned, possession of land has been partly handed over to the NHIDCL by both the deputy commissioners of Ri Bhoi and East Khasi Hills Districts.

“Very soon, we will be able to handover the entire stretch of the road length to the NHIDCL as work orders have been issued to the contractors (for starting the construction of the bypass),” Tynsong said.

Asked on the progress of work for the Shillong-Dawki road, the deputy CM however informed that work has just resumed again.

“Work has just started again. I guess you must have seen it, be it four lane or package I, II and IV. They have just started and of course I don’t have the percentage of work done. Maybe very soon I will get all the details from the NHIDCL,” he added.
