Shillong, Feb 4: The Hynniewtrep A’chik National Movement (HANM) has lauded the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government for working hard on various issues that have been pending for a very long period.

Addressing a press conference, HANM president Lamphang Kharbani heaped praises for the MDA government for taking up issues such as the demand for the inclusion of Khasi language in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, the Inner Line Permit (ILP) Resolution in 2019, the ongoing works of the Crowborough hotel.

Lamphang expressed gratitude to the state government for taking up the Sweeper Colony issue, and for speeding up construction of the Legislative Assembly building.

“We are not blindly praising the government, the organization has no political affiliation but we extend support to the government for pursuing issues of the state,” said Lamphang.

On asked about the bringing of Railway line into the state, the HANM president reiterated its opposition to railways unless a mechanism to check influx is not in place.

“There is no law to handle influx of illegal migrants. There is no railway in the state yet illegal migrants are flooding the State….we don’t want our state to be another Tripura”, added the HANM chief.
