Shillong, May 5: The Hynniewtrep A’chik National Movement (HANM), Ri-Bhoi Unit, submitted a memorandum to Home Minister Lakmen Rymbui on Thursday for upgradation of the Umsning Police Outpost to a full-fledged Police Station at Umsning, Ri Bhoi.

Speaking to reporters here, HANM Ri-Bhoi Unit president Pateng Mersing informed that the meeting with the Minister in-charge was fruitful as he has assured that he will look into the matter.

“That with the passage of time, Umsning Village has changed from hamlet to developing Urban center in the entire Ri-Bhoi District, therefore, the need for upgradation of the police outpost to a full-fledged Police station will benefit the residents of the villages which is under the jurisdiction of Umsning police outpost,” said Mersing.

“With 50-odd villages under the Output jurisdiction, there is a problem to the residents as there is a lack of manpower,” he added.
