Healthcare at the Doorstep: Assam Govt’s ‘Xushrukha Setu’ benefits thousands

Boko, Oct 23: A day-long mega health camp under the Assam Government’s Health Department was organized at Jorshimuli Higher Secondary School playground in the newly formed Chamaria constituency of Kamrup district on Thursday.

The camp, titled “Xushrukha Setu”, witnessed impressive participation from thousands of local residents benefiting from a range of medical services.

The health initiative was jointly inaugurated by MLA of Chhaygaon constituency Rakibuddin Ahmed and Kamrup District Commissioner Dev Kumar Mishra, who ceremonially cut the ribbon to open the event. A special meeting was also held to mark the occasion.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Dipak Das, the nodal officer of the mega health camp, stated that through “Xushrukha Setu”, the Assam Government aims to build a healthy and prosperous society by providing comprehensive healthcare services for every child, adolescent, and youth up to the age of 18 across the constituency.

Speaking as the chief guest, MLA Rakibuddin Ahmed expressed gratitude to the Health Department for organizing such a large-scale health fair in Chamaria Constituency.

He remarked that the camp would provide immense benefit to the common people, particularly in preventive and curative healthcare. He further announced that patients diagnosed with critical ailments at the camp would receive free advanced treatment at premier hospitals in Guwahati, including AIIMS, Narayana Hospital, GNRC, and Pragjyotishpur Hospital.

The MLA also urged the Joint Director of Health Services, Kamrup, to ensure that doctors appointed in the Chamaria area provide efficient and dedicated service within their jurisdiction.

He emphasized the goal of a “disease-free society” and highlighted the need to ensure that no injustice is done to the poor in the name of geo-tagging under government schemes.Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Dev Kumar Mishra underscored that providing basic healthcare to people is the foremost duty of the government.

He noted that “Xushrukha Setu” was launched to bring healthcare directly to the doorsteps of citizens.
