Shillong , Sept 12: The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) on Monday lodged a complaint at the office of the Deputy Commissioner against the apparent ‘irresponsible’ earth cutting by one Uttam JhunJhunwala at Narbong, Umjojwa in Byrnihat, Ri Bhoi District.

Speaking to reporters, HITO Byrnihat area president, Kapil Kurbah, said that the earth work carried by the company of Uttam JhunJhunwala has created hardship to the locals plying through the areas of earth work location as the flow of soil and gravel through has created inconvenience for the movement of vehicles plying through this road located at Narbong Umjojwa.

He also informed that though the HITO members had tried to seek information through JhunJhunwala in the reason of the earth but his reply was not satisfactory.

Therefore, witnessing the inconveniences and disturbance of the public, HITO Byrnihat area has complained about the matter to the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District seeking the intervention and to ask the owner of the factory to clear the road and to stop such activities relating to earth work and to take preventives measure to ensure that no soil should pile up on the road which will disturb the movement of vehicles.
