Guwahati: The family of Rohit Vermula, who died by suicide in 2016, has announced they will challenge the Telangana police’s closure report in the case on Friday. According to reports, Vermula’s family will file a petition in court to seek further investigation.

Stabbed

Guwahati: A 29-year-old Tihar prison inmate was stabbed to death after an altercation broke out between him and another inmate over the issue of food Friday afternoon. The Afghan national Abdul Basir(44), allegedly stabbed another undertrial prisoner, Deepak Soni, without any provocation inside ward number 3 of Central jail number 4.

Guwahati: Three persons died and another suffered serious burn in a forest fire incident in Uttarakhand’s Almora district on Friday. These are the first reported deaths in forest fires in the state that has seen at least 868 much fires affecting 1086 hectares of area since November last.
