New Delhi, Dec 31: India reported 841 new COVID-19 cases, the highest in 227 days, with 4,309 active cases, according to the health ministry.
Three new deaths, one each from Kerala, Karnataka, and Bihar, were recorded in the last 24 hours, as per the ministry’s 8 am update.
During the peak of the pandemic in early 2020, daily COVID-19 cases in India reached lakhs. Over the course of about four years since then, the country has recorded more than 4.5 crore infections and over 5.3 lakh deaths. Over 4.4 crore people have recovered, resulting in a national recovery rate of 98.81%, as per the ministry’s website.
According to the website, 220.67 crore doses of Covid vaccines have so far been administered in the country.
