Agartala, March 11: The Indian Army has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with ABV Regional Cancer Centre and Agartala Government Medical College & GBP Hospital in Tripura to provide cashless and capless medical treatment to Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) beneficiaries and their dependents in the state of Tripura. This will include Assam Rifles ECHS Members at CGHS rates.

The agreement will also provide Oncology facilities for the first time at ABV Regional Cancer Centre in Agartala, which will alleviate the difficulties of veterans and their beneficiaries travelling to other parts of the country for cancer-related treatment and follow-up.

The agreement is part of the Indian Army’s endeavour to provide holistic medical cover to ESM in the state of Tripura under the supervision of Headquarters Eastern Command and Headquarters 101 Area, Shillong.

The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between the Indian Army and two hospitals in the state of Tripura is a significant development in providing quality healthcare to Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) beneficiaries and dependents of ESM in the state of Tripura.

The agreement will facilitate cashless and capless medical treatment to ESM beneficiaries and dependents of ECHS in the state of Tripura at CGHS rates, alleviating the difficulties of veterans and their dependents travelling to other states in the northeast, particularly to Assam, to receive multispecialty medical care. The agreement will also provide for the first time the empanelment of the Oncology facilities at ABV Regional Cancer Centre at Agartala with Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, providing access to cancer-related treatment and follow-up to veterans and their beneficiaries without the need to travel to other parts of the country.

In addition to the signing of the agreement, the Local Military Authority has also established a Help Centre to assist the veterans visiting Agartala Government Medical College & GBP Hospital, ensuring hassle-free treatment for ESMs. This arrangement, a first of its kind in the state of Tripura, is part of the endeavour of the Regional Centre Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Guwahati, to provide holistic medical cover to the ESM of the state under the supervision of Headquarters Eastern Command and Headquarters 101 Area, Shillong.

The initiative has been widely praised by the veteran community in Tripura. “This is a great step taken by the Indian Army for the welfare of Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme beneficiaries in the state of Tripura,” said a retired army veteran. “It will save us the hassle of travelling to other states for medical treatment and provide us with quality healthcare facilities in our own state.”
