SHILLONG, NOV 20: The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) today handed over a mobile medical van and a state‑of‑the‑art ultrasound machine to the Ramakrishna Mission Charitable Dispensary, Laitumkhrah, Shillong as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The handing‑over ceremony was attended by IOAODSO exective director & state head R. Nambiar, IOC senior manager Malati Malakar, secretary Ramakrishna Mission Swami Hitakamananda, assistant secretary Swami Divyalokananda and Padma Shri awardee and noted literary personality Silbi Passah.

In his speech, Nambiar highlighted IOCL’s achievements, including its crucial role in ensuring nationwide distribution of petroleum products such as cooking gas, noting that the corporation’s strong performance enables it to support initiatives that bring tangible benefits to communities.

He added that the mobile medical van and ultrasound machine will directly strengthen the Mission’s outreach to remote and underserved areas and enhance diagnostic services at the dispensary.

Malakar remarked that while the term “Corporate Social Responsibility” gained prominence around 2014, the core idea of social responsibility was expressed much earlier by Swami Vivekananda in the late 19th century.

She noted that the Ramakrishna Mission, through its diverse service activities, has touched thousands of lives and continues to embody the spirit of selfless service.

Swami Hitakamananda, expressing gratitude, stated, “The new facilities will enable the Mission to serve more individuals with efficiency and compassion.”
