SHILLONG, APR 3: A court here remanded Kenedy Khongsit, the accused in the murder of 7-year-old Kyrshanbor Kharmudai, to eight days police custody on Thursday.
Khongsit, 32, was produced before the court after his arrest on Wednesday from his Lum Myrboh residence.
Khongsit, a neighbour of the deceased, was arrested following a breakthrough by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed under the supervision of East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem.

The accused confessed to killing the child in a fit of rage on October 8, 2025, when Kharmudai failed to follow his instructions.
Police said Khongsit smothered the child and dumped his body in Mawpat jungle using a white Yamaha R-Z scooty.
The investigation faced initial challenges due to lack of evidence, but forensic reports helped identify the accused.
Police will reconstruct the crime scene during Khongsit’s custody to determine the sequence of events.
“We will ask for maximum days (police remand) because we need to reconstruct the whole crime scene,” SP Vivek Syiem said.
