Shillong, June 25: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) chief, Shemborlang Rynjah, has disclosed that the council received Rs 1,17,500 as its share from private markets during the financial year 2024-25.
This amount is part of the 10% share that private market owners are required to pay to the council, he said while replying during the question hour.

According to Rynjah, the council received a total of Rs 2,39,100 in 2023-24 and Rs 29,000 in 2022-23 from private markets. However, four private markets did not pay their share due to a dispute with the clan over market ownership.
The KHADC’s revenue from private markets has seen fluctuations over the years, with a significant increase in 2023-24 compared to 2022-23.
