“Preventing a decline in birth rates and good childcare are all of our housekeeping duties we need to handle while working with mothers,” Kim was quoted as saying by the news agency Reuters at the event for mothers in Pyongyang on Sunday.

He also thanked mothers for their effort in strengthening national power.

Kim Jong Un said that even he thinks of his mother when he faces hard time dealing with the party and the state’s work.

According to media reports, Kim Jong Un said, “Stopping the decline in birthrates and providing good child care and education are all our family affairs that we should solve together with our mothers”.

As per United Nations data, the average number of children being born in North Korea by a mother stood at 1.8 as of 2023 amid an extended fall in birth in recent decades.
