Shillong, July 28: Thma U Rangli-Juki (TUR) leader Angela Rangad was on Wednesday afternoon joined by few more people in her protest. She said these people have come to support her and want their voices heard.
At the same time, she informed that the Principal Secretary of labour department, GHP Raju is looking into the matter of the irregularities pointed out by her.
She said she will be meeting the Principal Secretary later in the day to discuss more on the issue and would be accompanied by various stakeholders.
However, since she did not get any written assurance from the department or the Government, she would continue with her protest.
Rangad added that their decision of continue the protest will depend on the meeting with Principal Secretary and also the Government needs to give a particular time frame to resolve the issue and all the benefit is released to the beneficiaries.
Rangad has been staging a sit-in demonstration in front of the gates of Meghalaya State Secretary since July 19, 2021 demanding immediate release of financial assistance to daily wage earners affected by Covid-19 lockdowns, as promised by government last year.
