Imphal, Aug 31: At least three people dead and over a dozen injured in separate incidents of firing in past two days at Naransena canal area of the inter-district borders of Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts of Manipur.
Sources said a heavy exchange of fire has continued over the past two days in the border areas of Bishnupur and Churachandpur.
Three people have been killed in the past two days and over a dozen have been injured, including people from both warring communities.
After the firing incident, security forces were deployed in the Naranseina area.
Combined security forces recovered five looted sophisticated arms, 31 different types of ammunition, 19 powerful bombs, and three packs of explosives from Kangpokpi and Imphal West districts on Wednesday.
This fresh exchange of fire comes at a time when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over its probe into 27 FIRs, which were registered by the state police in connection with ethnic clashe in Manipur during which over 160 people are reported to have lost their lives.
Meanwhile, the CBI takes over the investigation of 27 violence-related cases in Manipur.
According to reports, the miscreants on Wednesday attacked and hurled local-made bombs that exploded at around 2:14 PM near the 2nd IRB camp stationed at the strategic area in Naransena village in Manipur’s Bishnupur district.
One IRB personnel and two civilians were injured when they were hit by the splinters of the bombs.
The injured were rushed to Raj Medical Centre in Imphal for medical treatment.
