Shillong, Aug 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his 104th episode of Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, mentioned Meghalaya’s longest caves and Brian D. Kharpran, whose hard work towards exploring caves in the state helped in shine out on the map.
He said, “Meghalaya’s Brian D. Kharpran has a great interest in speleology. He along with his team, discovered more than 1700 caves and put the state on the World Cave Map”.

Brian D. Kharpran did his first exploration in 1964 as a high school student. In 1990, he started an association with his friend and started to find out about the unexplored caves in the state.
He, along with his association, have so far explored 1700 caves and marked them out on the World Cave Map.
