Shillong, May 5: The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) on Monday declared the results of the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Examination 2025 for the Science stream, recording an overall pass percentage of 82.94%. Out of 3,922 students who appeared for the exam, 3,253 candidates successfully cleared it.
Among the districts, South West Garo Hills stood out with a perfect 100% pass percentage, with all 33 students who appeared for the exam clearing it.
Close on its heels were East Jaintia Hills (96.15%), West Khasi Hills (96.00%), and West Jaintia Hills (88.75%). On the other hand, East Garo Hills (63.57%) and South West Khasi Hills (68.57%) recorded the lowest pass percentages.

In terms of gender-wise performance, female candidates outperformed their male counterparts once again. Out of 2,224 regular female candidates, 1,901 passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 85.94%. For regular male candidates, 1,183 out of 1,423 passed, giving a slightly lower pass rate of 83.13%.
However, the gap was more pronounced among non-regular candidates. 58.57% of female non-regulars passed the exam, compared to 58.45% of male non-regulars. In total, only 169 out of 287 non-regular candidates managed to pass.
Over the past five years, this year’s Science stream pass percentage marks an improvement compared to the 2021 (75.85%) and 2022 (71.62%) results, although it saw a slight dip from 2024’s 85.24%.
