Shillong, June 16: President of the MCCL Employees Union (MCCLEU) Shanlang Lyngdoh on Thursday informed that the union will suspend their agitation for one week after the management assured the union to take up the issue with Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma.
Speaking to media persons after the executive committee meeting, Lyngdoh said that the management of MCCL Sohra has agreed to take up all the issues of the employees with the state government especially when it comes to regular payment of salary.
“We have only three demands which includes payment of regular salary, implementation of VRS scheme and immediate operationalization of the plant and the management of MCCL has agreed to take up all the issues with the Chief Minister,” said Lyngdoh.
He said, as per verbal discussion during the meeting, the management had agreed to sit and have a detailed discussion with leaders of the union and all stakeholders before meeting the Chief Minister on June 20, 2022.
“As for now, we will call off the agitation and we will again take a decision whether to continue or not with our agitation after a meeting with Chief Minister on next Monday,” he added.
