Shillong, Mar 7: The NPP-led MDA Government on Monday held an all political party meeting that was attended by leaders of all the political parties on inter-state boundary issue at Shillong and also shared the micro details of all the facts and figures of the agreement the state has signed with Assam.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that the leaders requested for black and white copies of the reports and that the government shared details with them.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma will be meeting the Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the final settlement in 6 of the 12 areas of differences between Meghalaya and Assam on March 9 at New Delhi.

“I will be proceeding to Delhi on the 9th where I am hopeful that we will be able to come to some kind of conclusion along with Assam government and the government of India,” said Meghalaya CM.

“There are certain areas which had some complications, and which we explained on why those areas decision needed to be made on those lines and after the explanation was given, they (political parties leaders) have understood more or less what the reasons were. We stressed on the fact that there are certain principles and yardsticks on which basis we have to move forward in certain areas and we cannot simply go ahead. And in the other areas where it doesn’t suit us, we have applied different yardstick. So, you know, once a yardstick or a principle is applied in one area, then we have to make sure that the same principle continues in different areas also,” added the CM.
