Guwahati, Nov 28: In a landmark first, two startups from Meghalaya and Assam have signed an interstate Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop sustainable, affordable livestock feed—marking a major step forward for Northeast India’s circular economy and agri-innovation ecosystem.
The collaboration brings together AlteRe Innovations, an Assam-based startup that converts food waste into high-quality animal feed ingredients, and Kyrsiew Pynroi Agrofarming Development Organisation, a PRIME Meghalaya-incubated feed manufacturing enterprise.
The partnership was seeded during the 2nd Bootcamp of the PRIF Prakriti Incubation Launchpad held on September 2–3, 2025, in Guwahati, where the PRIME Meghalaya team connected AlteRe founder Sreyance Modi with Meghalaya entrepreneur Bonney Kharbani, a Cohort 5 incubatee. What began as a conversation has now formalised into a strategic alliance following weeks of planning and idea exchanges.
Under the MoU, both startups will work together to integrate upcycled feed ingredients into the production of pig and poultry feed in Meghalaya, aiming to reduce costs for farmers while improving quality and sustainability. The initiative is expected to strengthen feed availability, support local livestock producers, and promote circular-economy practices by reducing food waste.
PRIME Meghalaya described the collaboration as a “proud milestone” that underscores the power of innovation-driven networks in fostering real impact. The partnership highlights how entrepreneurship platforms in the Northeast are enabling startups to forge meaningful, outcome-oriented collaborations across state borders.
